The West African Monetary Institute (WAMI) is established by statute to carry out all preparatory activities leading to the establishment of the the West African Central Bank. WAMI does not operate as a bank and as such does not hold funds for disbursement or payment to individuals, firms or governments.

It has come to our attention that some individuals purporting to have connections with WAMI have issued notices, circulars and letters with a view to lure companies, firms and individuals to respond to them for purposes of financial gain. Such schemes are fraudulent and members of the general public are warned to desist from acting on such schemes.
